In the wake of 2020, I wanted to take action to help address widespread loneliness.
Throughout 2021, I wrote and designed the Community Mapping Journal (print workbook) as a small way to help people create a system for finding community. It was transformational to move from idea to published book and workshops.
The workbook walks through 5 steps to frame, strategize, and execute one’s community vision, based on principals of Asset Based Community Development.
FORGE community:
Frame Your Experience
Organize Your Assets
Reboot Your Vision
Generate Your Actions
Evaluate Your Progress
(and start over!)
The workbook is not 100% perfect, and I’ve considered other ways to simplify and integrate the concepts more intuitively into one’s life.
When I first learned how to use the low-code platform Lovable, I created a quick tool I could use on a website as an email capture lead generator that would help people map their community in less than 3 minutes.
In the tool, you simply answer a few questions and it generates a community web and a one-sheet you can print to keep your priority community goal in front of you for 30 days.
